Pete and I arrived in Cornwall and spent the night at the Cornubia Inn in Hayle. This was a slight change to our original plans as we were due to travel by train the next day, but the train strike put an end to that. Instead, we drove down in a hired vehicle. There were some unexpected benefits to this:

  • We managed to fit in a full day of cycling the following day, effectively adding an extra day to the trip. This allowed us to shorten the first few stages, which had the most challenging gradients of the whole expedition. We were able to ease ourselves in more gently than we initially planned.
  • The car we had hired hadn’t been returned by the previous hirer, so we were offered a free upgrade to a van, which was better for transporting the bikes.

We are inviting people to show their support for this challenge by sponsoring us. We are raising money for three Salvation Army projects:

  • Support for survivors of domestic abuse
  • Addiction services
  • Support for refugees
